There are a number of things on my mind these days.. I could go on and on and on with my Profiles in ignorance series, but frankly, I got tired of doing it. I was going to talk about Cynthia McKinney and how she asked Michael Chertoff and I will paraphrase here, ["If the owners of the nursing homes in New Orleans are being charged with negligent homicide, why shouldn't you be charged for the same thing"]. Good lord, he wasn't FEMA chief when Katrina rolled through. I ask myself, who the fuck elected her? Making stupid remarks like that I would love to hear a campaign speech of hers. I'll wait for her to do something else to embarrass herself and her district before doing one on her. There seems to be a wealth of material out there regarding her remarks.

Cynthia McKinney, regardless of who or what she thinks she is fighting for is no Rosa Parks. RIP.

Harriet Miers has rescinded her nomination to the supreme court, saving George W. Bush some trouble. I wonder what was going through his head when he picked her. I understand that there have been other lawyers on the court before, but she was not a heavyweight by any stretch of the imagination. She seemed like a nice lady though but not enough to be a justice.

Cheryll Swoopes is gay. Big Deal. To be honest with you, it wasn't that big a stretch when I saw it. It was kind of like learning that George Michael or Luther Vandross was gay. When I heard the news I was like 'And?'

In other news, the news media 'celebrated' the 2000th troop killed in or because of Iraq. So where were they when troop 1682 was killed? The fact is, 2000 troops per day died in Viet Nam and far more have died in one day in previous wars. I suppose we'll celebrate the 3000th troop sometime next year.
